Settings: Activity Labels

The Activity Labels tab in Workalizer Settings is where you define and manage custom labels for categorizing activity (documents, chat rooms, calendar events) based on rules—e.g. matching document title, chat room title, or event title. You can create, edit, and delete labels and optionally generate an initial set using AI. This guide describes the Activity Labels section under Settings. Where to Find Activity Labels Settings

Go to /settings/ and open the Activity Labels tab. Users with the appropriate admin permissions can manage labels here.

Functionality

• Create new labels: Add a new activity label and define the rules that assign it to events. Rules are typically based on the name of the item—e.g. document title, chat room title, or calendar event title. For example, all items whose title contains “Workalizer” can be tagged with the label “Workalizer” so you can analyze that segment in Work Patterns or Performance Review.
• Edit existing labels: Change the label name or update the matching rules (e.g. add or remove keywords or patterns). Updated rules apply to new activity; existing data may or may not be re-evaluated depending on product behavior.
• Delete labels: Remove a label when it is no longer needed. Existing reports that used the label may show historical data until data is refreshed or re-aggregated.
• Generate labels with AI: Use the option to have Workalizer suggest an initial set of labels from your data. Review and edit the suggested labels and rules in this tab before saving. This speeds up setup for project-, client-, or topic-based segmentation.

Once labels are defined, they are used across widgets that group or filter by activity label (e.g. Communication by Activity Label, Working Time Allocation by Label, Docs Shared Externally by Label) in Performance Review, Work Patterns, and Apps.
